Pete Kight

Pete Kight, Proprietor
Pete Kight was the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CheckFree Corporation, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia from 1981 to 2007 when it was acquired by Fiserv. He is currently Vice Chairman of Fiserv and serves on the Board of Directors. Founded in 1981 from an initial vision to provide electronic funds transfer services, CheckFree expanded into a leading global provider of technology services and infrastructures that enabled the electronic movement and management of personal and business finances. Pete’s life-long interest in wine and the science of grape growing led him into the wine business in 2006, when he met Henry and Holly Wendt, founders of Quivira. Since purchasing the winery and vineyards in the summer of 2006, Pete has rallied the Quivira team around a strong sense of purpose. The collective Quivira family shares an entrepreneurial spirit and mutual understanding of how a sustainable, holistic approach to growing grapes can yield, in the end, truly distinctive wines.

Terri Kight

Terri Kight, Proprietor
Terri Kight is an architect by training, having received her Masters in Architecture from Ohio State. She worked in commercial interior and architectural design for a decade, before deciding to concentrate full time on family after the birth of her and Pete’s second child. Terri also chose to invest her time and resources into community, and is a member of the Board of Directors of The Boys and Girls Club, and Woodward Academy. She is also Managing Director of a charitable foundation committed to providing education and opportunity for underprivileged youth. Terri's interest in wine closely aligns with her background in art.

Winemaker Hugh Chappelle

Hugh Chappelle, Winemaker

Chappelle joined Quvira in 2010 from neighboring Lynmar Estate in the Russian River Valley, where his wines achieved widespread critical acclaim.  Prior to joining Lynmar, Chappelle served as winemaker for the noted boutique winery Flowers Vineyard & Winery on the Sonoma Coast. Earlier in his career, he was winemaker for Madrona Vineyards in the Sierra Foothills, where he focused on Zinfandel, Rhône, Bordeaux and aromatic white varieties.  Chappelle did graduate studies in viticulture and enology at U.C. Davis and has a degree in chemistry from U.C. Santa Cruz.

David Murphy, Assistant Winemaker
David comes to Quivira with over 20 years of experience in the wine industry. A Sonoma County native, David started his wine career by earning his Viticulture Certificate at Santa Rosa Junior College and managing a small tasting room in Healdsburg. After graduating, David got his first job working on the production side of the business at Stonestreet Winery and he knew he was where he should be, eventually becoming their Cellarmaster. His career continued at Fetzer Winery where he got his first introduction to organic wine production, then on to Chateau Ste. Michelle, Lynmar Estate and eventually home to Quivira as Assistant Winemaker. David is again at SRJC working toward his Enology Certificate, and he and his family reside in Santa Rosa with their three dogs, two cats, a guinea pig and a bunny.

Ned Horton

Ned Horton, Vineyard Manager
Truly a man of many talents, Ned came to the world of winegrowing via a circuitous route that included stints as a freelance website producer, a baker, a bike messenger and a macrobiotic cook. Working the 2005 harvest at Davis Bynum, Ned discovered his true calling and we are grateful for that! Ned worked his way up from a cellar worker at David Bynum and Quivira to the Assistant Winegrower at Quivira, working closely with the winemaker to farm the estates Biodynamic vineyards. This role has allowed Ned to expand is knowledge of wine via being deeply in tune with the cycle of the vineyards and working tirelessly to bring forward the essence of each site in the fruit. When he is not out listening to the vines, Ned can be found at his home in Graton, spending cherished time with his family.


Jim Barausky, Farm Manager
Jim lives and breathes organic and biodynamic farming. In fact, he has spent some 35 years immersed in it, most recently in Longmont, CO. What drew Jim to this school of agriculture is that it is as much about philosophy as it is about technique. Jim, who was schooled in biodynamics at Emerson College in England is also a staunch advocate of community supported agriculture. "I have a never-ending enthusiasm for farming and community building," says Jim. "I believe that it is the solution that we are seeking for the renewal of our local economies and our cultural life."





Dave Lese, Chief Financial Officer
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Dave moved to the Bay Area after high school and has made the region his home ever since. Dave joins Wine Creek with twenty years of professional experience in a number of industries, including publishing, accounting and finance. His diverse background and breadth of business experience has afforded Dave a unique perspective, namely, the ability to understand the impact of every decision that is made across an entire company. No stranger to the wine world, Dave was Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for Premier Pacific Vineyards in Napa prior to joining Wine Creek. Before that he served as Finance Director, Joint Ventures for Robert Mondavi Corporation. When he’s not creating spreadsheets or delving into the numbers, Dave is with his family and, occasionally, on the golf course or mountain biking trail. He lives in Novato (or as he likes to call it “the gateway to wine country”) with his wife and their three children.


Patty Tiso

Patty Tiso, District Sales Manager West
A love of family and fine wine brought Pete Kight’s sister Patty into the business to serve as the District Sales Manager West for Wine Creek. Working in sales and marketing for The Limited, Patty developed a finely tuned sense of the unique regions of the US and their disparate cultures— geographic and cultural differences that come into play when selling wine as well. Patty’s passion for the business and talent for developing strong relationships make her an integral part of the team.

When she’s not on the road sharing her passion for the Wine Creek brands, Patty spends time studying for a multitude of advanced wine classes or pursuing her other passion: Latin dance. Patty lives in Orange County and is the mother of two boys.



Vikki Tola

Vikki Tola, Distributor Relations Manager
As Wine Creek’s Distributor Relations Manager, Vikki oversees every part of the business that relates to distribution for all three brands in the Wine Creek Portfolio, from processing orders, invoicing, controlling inventory, managing depletions, processing bill backs and handling accounts receivable. Add to this her role managing the Customer Service Department for Wholesale and you’ve got a job only Vikki could do, and do with a smile! Born and raised in Santa Cruz, California, as a young girl Vikki moved to central Oregon. There, her family farmed mint, wheat and onions as well as raising pigs and chickens. Which may explain why Vikki is right at home at Quivira’s winery estate, surrounded by gardens and animals. In her down time, Vikki loves to read and cook and bake. Her philosophy is simple: "My mom and dad always stressed to treat people how you would like to be treated and to be totally honest and I have always tried to utilize those tra



Robert Rainwater, Tasting Room Manager
Robert's path into the wine industry was hardly conventional. His background was certainly diverse: spending time in the financial services industry; creating a company that worked with a dozen European glass, wood and ceramic artists, importing their work to the U.S. Canada and Mexico. He also spent 6 years building and renovating Arts and Crafts period homes. The projects included renovation of a historic winery in the Sonoma Valley. It was here that Robert was first exposed to the wine business...when the project was completed, he stayed on to help out in the tasting room. However, the defining moment in his career came when he returned to school for his MBA with an emphasis on sustainable business and a focus in the wine industry. What he learned in school, he says, was a major reason why he was so attracted to working at Quivira. Robert resides in Sebastopol--he moved here 10 years ago from Southern California to provide a better environment for his 3 children and for the food, wine, and art culture. When he's not at Quivira, Robert enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking, wine tasting and working out.




Nancy Bailey

Nancy Bailey, General Manager & Director of Marketing
Born in Syracuse, New York, Nancy spent a good portion of her school years overseas in England. Her interest in food and wine was sparked by family travels abroad throughout her childhood. After attending college and graduate school back in the States (she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Hamilton College and a Master of Arts degree in international relations from The Fletcher School at Tufts University), Nancy ventured to California where she discovered a true passion for wine country living. She lent her many marketing talents to such well-known brands as Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards & Winery, Perrier Jouët and Kendall-Jackson. Later, her creativity and communication acumen placed her in high demand when she went on to work as a freelance marketing consultant for a number of Sonoma County wineries. In 2008, Nancy joined Quivira Vineyards & Winery as general manager and director of marketing. Nancy lives in Sebastopol with her husband and two young children.
