Solar Power

Our new solar array installed by Synergy Electrical Systems consists of 297 solar panels from Sharp Electronics (each with a 185W power rating) that now totally cover our south-facing roofs. They feed six inverters (one 35kW and five 3.5kW) which convert the DC voltage produced by the solar modules to AC voltage that matches the utility’s power. A ‘net’ meter installed by the electric utility keeps track of how much our system has contributed (sold to the power grid). We receive a statement each month reflecting our balance. At the end of the year we will settle up with the utility if we owe them anything- which we do not anticipate. If our calculations are correct, we have paid our last electric bill!

At Quivira, we respect the property that we farm, the people that work here and the community in which we reside. Our estate is at the heart of the Dry Creek Valley – and we want it to remain a healthy heart for a long time to come.
